The Neon Fruit Supermarket

This piece is inspired by a poem by Allen Ginsberg called "A Supermarket in California". The graphics for this piece was created first. I prepared it on the occasion of #AFTERGINSBERG - theVERSEverse project, which paid tribute to the work of Allen Ginsberg. This cover is a pixel collage containing the names of all the fruits and vegetables mentioned in Ginsberg's poem. Ana Maria Caballero, inviting me to this project, wrote: "prepare whatever you want, it can be music. But it must be printable...". So I created a cover art for a non-existent piece of music. The natural next step was to compose this music! I imagined some random character taking hallucinogenic mushrooms in the mid-1960s and thinking he was walking into a neon grocery store. The music you hear is the soundtrack to his imaginary shopping. I used a lot of different samples in the song. Its foundation, however, are looped guitar parts. Each of them has a different length, so the loops never meet at the same time. The texture they create is not repeated and constantly evolves.
