This song is dedicated to all the amazing people who have worked tirelessly to develop the PXNKAP3 project, as well as the tremendous PXNKAP3 community. I wrote this song to be released in celebration of the official PXNKAP3 minting on February 7, 2024. The idea to write a song for the PXNKAP3 project and community came to me just a few days prior to the mint date as I began playing around with lyrical ideas related to the project's offerings. I decided to put my writing and production skills to the test to see if I could fully complete the song in just under 3 days, and after a couple of sleepless nights, I successfully reached my goal. This song was a ton of fun to write; I wanted to allude to as many of the rich offerings of the PXNKAP3 project as possible while still keeping the song short and to-the-point. It took a few attempts to land on a vocal style for this song, and while I don't typically sing punk rock, I think I found something that worked well enough. On guitar, it was a blast slamming out power chords and trying to keep on tempo for all of the rapid muted downstrokes. The solo was one of the more challenging parts of the song to write since I was under such a time crunch, and I ended up altering part of the song form in order to make the solo fit better. This was also the first time I recorded with my bass guitar as I just recently brought it into my arsenal. And as tedious as it is to hand sequence drums, I really love the process as well as the result. I used Reaper as my DAW, and I recorded, edited, and mixed all of the guitars, bass, and vocals in my home studio. Credit goes to my partner for her vocal contribution on the choruses. I used a Studio Projects C1 microphone, a Schecter Diamond Series Garza Signature Edition electric guitar, and a Cort Curbow 52 bass guitar. I hand sequenced the drum parts into a MIDI editor, played through the GetGood Drums Matt Halpern Signature Kit in Kontakt 7. I used a host of plugins for mixing and mastering primarily from Native Instruments, iZotope, Kazrog, and Waves. After years of work as a composer, sound designer, and technical audio designer in the games industry, I’m happy to be working on my own personal music again. The minting of this song marks the second song I’ve minted, as well as the second song I’ve produced in 2024, the first being an acapella song titled Art Needs You that I wrote for the Optimism “We Love the Art” on chain art contest.
