Prepare for eternal vibes. "Love Me Right" is one my FAVORITE songs because it slaps. The lyrics are raw, tear-jerking, and the cadences are oh-so therapeutic. It hits home for me and millions who have struggled to escape the shadows of unhealthy relationships. "Love Me Right" is on a lot of "breakup" playlists - which makes sense - but I like to call it a "Self-Love Anthem," because the song (and music video) are less about the individual who caused you pain, and more about YOU finding your true self THROUGH the pain. After all, whatever we focus on, we get more of. Focus on pain, and you will get more pain. Focus on healing, and you will heal. Focus on loving yourself the right way, and you will open yourself to a world of abundance that will shower you, endlessly, with love in all forms. (I'm speaking from experience). In the "Love Me Right" music video, there are four monochromatic scenes, red, blue, white, and lavender with two supporting sub-scenes. Each scene symbolizes the phases I experienced on my journey of self love. The opening shot takes place on the red set. This color signifies love, passion, and the burning flame I feel for my man. Throughout this scene you'll catch a glimpse of me and my love interest in our own world. I dance for him as he admires me from afar. This is then supported by a surreal style sub-scene that takes place in a car. As my relationship pans out, I transition into blue. Blue is symbolic of the sadness I am overwhelmed by when my lover refuses to support me in my life. You see me and my man in a personal space, the bedroom we share, where the intimacy in our relationship was once started and now ending. The scene starts off with me singing to him "I remember when you had my back." His back is physically turned towards me. I am on my knees preforming a cry out for attention all the while physically surrounded by sadness. White is the representation of renewal, and me in my purest form, as I embark on my journey of self love. It is the first phase of my metamorphosis. You see me in a brightly lit, pure white set, with mirrors. All that stands with me is a grand frosted white door. Here we see me performing the song while dancers engage with me in an act of self love and mindfulness. Through the choreography, the dancers eventually form a cocoon around me until I break free as a butterfly. The mirror scene provides the opportunity for me to self-reflect while gazing at and dancing for myself. The video ends with me in a monochromatic lavender set with a giant lavender throne. We see me in my final form, the confident and powerful woman that I am. Butterflies surround me and elegantly flutter through the room while I perform the song.
