Rats(slash)Lovers is incredibly significant for me as an artist. The day 'Colours Dancing' was born, was a day of great introspection. Part of that process was mind mapping who I am and eventually what I wanted "OmegaKid" to reflect back into the world. Duality was the overriding theme - the concept that at any given time thousands of the most nightmarish situations and are occurring juxtaposed by thousands of miraculous situations. It fascinated me how the human experience is so individual, yet collective at the same time. The first part of Rats(slash)Lovers explores the concept, that as extreme wealth inequality continues to rise exponentially, our place in society (as represented by the rat) has become a resource for the super wealthy/powerful to use indiscriminately, without accountability or real justice. "Galvanise your voice" for you are human. You are allowed joy, space, time. The very fact that you exist and are conscious is incredible. Experience life, make positive changes every day, challenge yourself and those around you. "Your voice is one of many". There is power in community. Conversely, is the story of the two lovers at the end of the song. "And both for the first time, Finding passion and fire." There is a tumult of emotion, but they are having a real experience, which we may feel we often have to deny due to the socio-economic burden placed on every single one of us. But in this moment, falling in love, you escape everything. There is colour in the world, optimism, hope and nothing else but the person standing in front of you. I generated the art using midjourney to reflect this juxtaposition. This to me was the example of extreme contrast that will literally be going on consistently every second, of every day. It is both haunting and beautiful.
