This is a love song about conquering my own demons and being ready to do that for someone else—about wanting to protect that person and even craving that feeling. I was picturing myself in a nighttime, vigilante, outlaw scene when I wrote the lyrics. I like to take things I’m feeling and make them literal, so I made myself into a demon slayer. I think the story is more wild like that. Love can be boring to listen to if you’re not in it, beb. I think the song sounds like what love feels like for me. Like this wild, cinematic fantasy. Mike and Nico made it into the western, glam, symphony of my dreams. It's meant to give you that beautiful, uneasy feeling of “no turning back."
