"All the notes that I could play, wouldn't be enough to say, the way I love you bones, I feel it when you're not at home." This original love song was written in my longstanding practice or tradition of songwriting art pop songs and producing them as fast as they bubble to the surface. Tongue and cheek semi satirical lyrics paired with the melodramatic feel you get out a mixed minor IV chord in place of a more traditional cadence; Soupspoon is as real to me in content and musical practice as is any work of a singer-songwriter. If it resonates with you, you might be a fan of the Beatles, Paul Simon, Elliott Smith and Cat Stevens like I am. I love to play with creative harmonies be it in a chord progression or double parts. I like this song because it stands alone on acoustic guitar and voice or in a recorded form that is more produced. I felt it was a good song and it got me thinking about some of those great musicians that I listened to and what did their songs look like on paper. Soupspoon was written rather cleanly, looking like it came out in one coherent thought with not many marks for the chords. I feel this might be the case with some good songs to humbly toot my proverbial horn. Hope you like it, I really appreciate the listen! -Brian Callahan
