She’s Back is the first single off of my upcoming debut album ‘Into Your Power, Into The Light’. It tells the story of coming back from a period of dormancy with a newfound vengeance. I was very inspired by the Kill Bill movie and soundtrack for this song both sonically and visually. I loved how fearless Uma Thurman’s character was in the film. I ended up writing the song from the perspective of an alter ego I created based on her which also combined and reflected my own experiences at the time. I wrote the song over zoom during the pandemic when I was going through a major transition in my music career. At the time I was feeling incredibly stuck and taken advantage by the industry. I was newly independent, without a team, and just felt clueless on how to survive and navigate being an artist especially during the pandemic. She’s Back was me imagining what it would feel like regaining strength and control over my art and career. It was in a lot of ways a manifestation of me coming back with a new found confidence and resilience, something that I believe came into fruition in the process of finishing this album.
