I made Fast Car after coming back from a slew of tours, hitting the covid “stay inside” era, and feeling a deep desire to reconnect to whatever source got me excited about life in the first place.  I felt everywhere I looked was not bringing me what I was looking for.  The only thing that did seemed to be nature and I remember during this time ( I think I made this around 2021?) going to Air Bnb’s alone in lake arrowhead and other woodsy locations, bringing some music things, and just doing whatever I wanted.  It was a time where people were telling you to not go outside.  It seems the world is always telling you not to do something or to keep you down in some way.  Obviously artists hate this but so do kids.  It’s quite childlike to want to do the opposite of what you’re told not to do. This song is sort of a peaceful ode to freedom.   To not wanting to be stuck in some sort of regimen whether it be touring or the confines of an artist, or the limitations we can feel are pressed on us as a society.
