There's no Other is a song I wrote and recorded in the start of spring. It's a love song at its core... I've always been picky with love songs just because I feel like everything's been said. I was happy to blend a few different pockets and sounds into this one. I also really like singing in falsetto, especially flowing in falsetto. To me this song is warmed and completed by its production. We recorded this whole thing to tape. On a tascam 388 8 track. My friend Pat who lives on the east side of los angeles has been putting me onto all this analogue gear. I think I'm hooked now...that's usually how it works. The idea of the song is pretty obvious, its something of "you got me, babe" love song. It's funny to think about maturing. And to think when I was really young how I used to think love songs were lame and corny. Now I feel like love is of the highest order. The song lingers with insecurities and that's cool to me - because theyre not sappy. There are honest ways to be vulnerable and dishonest ways. Sometimes I hear records that people call vulnerable and my reaction is... this doesnt sound like a true hang-up, or that it could be easily solved so its just whining...In other words "figure it the fuck out" ;) I've been trying not to whine or complain in any records...thats corny to me. I feel like this is my first song of a new era. I don't know what that means but I know I mean it. My love for music has only gotten deeper and it's about time to start hearing that on the recordings.
