The Demo Days: Anytime (October 12th 2020)

 The last song David and I made together 😢.

 We were locked in the first few months of Covid, and although we had worked on the roll out of Payday Vibes (if you know you know), we hadn’t made anything new. Then, one day in August, he sent me over the beat. Surprisingly, it was Boom Bap. We hadn’t worked on a boom bap song in a long time, so I was pumped to see it.

 I loved it right away. It sounded like classic Drake, the type of thing he’d use for an intro or an outro. I stopped whatever I was doing and started writing. Well, trying to write…nothing came to me. The beat was so nice, I knew I needed to kill it, but I couldn’t think of anything good to say. I don’t usually get writer’s block, so I was shook. 

 Over the next couple months, I would try again. Still, nothing. I just couldn’t think of lyrics good enough for the beat. I couldn’t reach the standard I expected from myself on a beat like this.

 Then, on October 12th, out of pure frustration, I wrote “I can’t think of nothing to start this”, and that was that. The song was written.

This is one of my favorite Demo Days records. Some days, it’s my favorite. I love writing all types of songs, but rapping, really, truly rapping, is and always will be my favorite thing to do. So, shout out David for giving me such a dope canvas. ps - from the hard drive to the streamers means the old names still in the intro 😆
