The Demo Days: Bubbly (February 19th, 2020) This was one of the last songs David and I made before Covid hit. We were in the zone by then. We made this one fast. Our session was almost over when he played me this beat. I freestyled the “time zone” section instantly. Too easy on a beat this smooth. We were like, “we gotta write this now” and the rest just flowed. We recorded the 4 sections we wrote in one take. I just winged it, the song isn’t even really arranged and you can hear me mess up a few times. We were supposed to re-record and rearrange it, but we flew to Miami for a session with Box and Jose a week or so later, and then Covid hit. So this rough draft became the final version. I’m glad that’s how it worked out, because I feel like this song has a lot of character in this form. It’s almost as if you’re in that room with us when we made it. I Love writing Love songs.
