I wrote it at a time when I was physically apart from a lot of people in my life, and I could feel connections fading. there are a ton of conflicting feelings in the song—feeling guilty about drifting apart from someone who is struggling, feeling unable to help them anymore, but also knowing that at the end of the day, we are first and foremost responsible for our own well-being.
