Stones. I wrote this song in Lo De Marco, Nayarit, Mexico where my dad used to live, after a surreal day with a local man named Tacho (pictured) who took me riding through the mountains and beaches on horseback, followed by tea and conversation on his deck as the sun set. We talked about a spirit that lived in his house — built on Huichol land. We spoke in English and Spanish and perhaps a 3rd language, of deep understanding. He walked me home through a field blanketed by a sky with more stars in it than darkness. I wrote a diary entry + this song immediately afterwards. It’s about realizing your stories, your memories, your treasures, are all a part of you — and they’re worth collecting and sharing with others (like stones). Recorded with a group of incredible musicians in Mexico City.
