George Vincent Mendy, born January 7, 1994, decided his future by claiming the
moniker “Iconicc.” Raised by a single mother, he believed that trust in God would always
bring him to the best version of himself. In 2017, Iconicc pulled the trigger on his career
after meeting music professional, Gibril Janko, aka Stylzz, who introduced him to the
world of Afrobeat music. Iconicc’s ear for catchy hooks and charming one-liners made
him a welcomed addition to the collective of local West African music sensations. In
2020, he began producing his catalog with singles “Satisfied,” “Loyalty,” and hit single
“JUMAALANO?” From the success of the popular single, Iconicc met songwriter and
publisher, Robyn Charles, daughter of Ray Charles, who saw a familiar spark in him for
the culture of the music, bringing her to Gambia during the launch of his first EP,
“Iconicc Vybe.” Their parallel vision for his success brought him to win a top spot in the
web3 competition, “The Culture Tape Volume 1: The Mixtape”, sponsored by The
Culture Cards (founder Fred Frenchy) and produced by multiplatinum, Grammy award
winning producer, Rodney Jerkins. Iconicc, braving new territory in the blockchain tech
space with the drop of the Culture Tape compilation, featuring his single “I Admit,” is
certainly on his way to massive global success.
